And there's more.....

As we loved our experience with Rosslyn and Norma on Wednesday, we thought we would go back and see Aboriginal painting techniques with some Aboriginal Men.

No conventional paintbrushes are used by these Artists. They make their own brush using the flower stalk of a native bush grass. They slice it down until it is one strand thin.

It was truly amazing to watch them in action. The detail, intricacy and patience was incredible.

No paints used here, just crushed ochre mixed with water.

If you look closely at the photo below you can see the fine brush that Gabrielle is using.....
This was just the second day he had been working on this piece...

Cavon's work (below) was incredibly intricate and beautiful. He had been working on his piece for five days....

The Ranger had paints and cardboard for people to try their hand at their painting techniques...

Both young and old had a go at making a traditional paintbrush and working on their own masterpiece.....

Great fun had by all!!

Another great cultural experience with our indigenous people.....

  3. Oh wow, looks fantastic. We lived in the NT twice, on Army postings, had 4 babies up there in Darwin, it was amazing. We did bring back lots of aboriginal art, it just reminds us of what a fantastic experience the tropics & the whole NT lifestyle truly was. Love Posie
