The Pilbara Region....

It's all about mining and salt production around this beautiful region in Western Australia.

Everything is BIG...

Big mounds of salt.

Produced from big salt lakes..

Big trains up to 5 kilometres long.

Big industrial sites and mines.

Big ports for huge ships carrying big loads of iron ore to China.

Big mineral rich hills covered in spinifex.

Big prices for low set brick homes (about $1million).

Big wages to pay for the low set brick homes.

BUT just before you get to the big mining communities of Dampier and Karratha, there is the tranquil community of Point Samson.

Quiet, small and very easy to fall in love with....

A great place to catch fish and enjoy watching some dolphins swimming by......

A great place to admire the lovely Sturt Desert Pea for the first time...

and the rugged, colourful coastline.....

Just lovely.....

  1. Amazing to see a Sturt's Desert Pea growing out in the wild not on a stamp!
