It's all about the Shells....

80 Mile Beach Caravan Park is a few kilometres off the highway, just over halfway between Broome and Port Hedland.

This tranquil little van park is famous for the beach side fishing and the amazing shells you can discover.

Absolutely nothing is here but the van park.
A true 'getaway from it all' destination.

We heard on the radio that it is in the process of becoming a designated marine park/ national park, which is good news.

Anticipation was high.

Nature did not let us down..

(warning- lots of pictures of shells)

The tide was so far out you could barely hear the waves from the sand dunes, amazing!

So much fun walking on the ocean floor and discovering lots of little strange creatures...

On entry to the beach there is a lovely memorial that has been built by Vietnam veterans to honour those who lost their lives during war...

It was truly beautiful....

Naturally we had to ration our 'shell loot' and leave behind some of the amazing shells for others to discover.....A good lesson for a 6yo!
